BIO

Born in 1992, Njogu currently lives and works in Nairobi, Kenya. He received a BSc in Project Planning and Management from Moi University, Eldoret, but soon after completing, he got drawn into a career in Visual Art. The interest was cultivated during his teenage years in High School where he did Art and Design, and further developed it after high school when he started experimenting more in art, and working on various commission projects, mostly in portraiture.

His 6 years of artistic practice so far has seen him attempt various techniques. Until recently, almost all of his artworks were in graphite and charcoal. In early 2015, he started experimenting with different techniques and mediums, including acrylic and oil pastel painting, and eventually working with old vinyl records, where he talks themes around music, great musicians and the cultures influenced by music.

“I have an itch to create, which means that I find myself experimenting a lot with different mediums and techniques. I believe that having a range of original and new ideas and concepts, basically doing a range of art forms, is conducive for growth as an artist, if one day its drawing, the next day its some painting or collage work. These different styles and techniques afford me the ultimate freedom of artistic expression… constantly moving, constantly growing.”
